Workshops & Events

Since the beginning of Somewhat Greener (read more in our about), we’ve been driven to find new ways to raise planetary awareness, foster systems thinking, and inspire meaningful action on today’s global challenges. Along the way, we’ve explored tools and techniques that not only inform but also spark curiosity, foster collaboration, and empower people to step up to the enormous challenges of our time. From hosting book clubs and literature discussions to delivering presentations and lectures, or even facilitating workshops and trainings, we’ve been experimenting with formats that connect and inspire.

On this page, you’ll find more information about the workshops and trainings we facilitate and the events we host or participate in. We also share some of our most memorable highlights, and you can explore a list of upcoming workshops and events that are open to the general public.

Whether you want to deepen your understanding of specific topics, connect with like-minded individuals, or uncover something new, our workshops and events have something for everyone.

Inspiring action through workshops

At the UN COP28 Climate Conference, we crossed paths with international facilitators and ambassadors promoting interactive workshops that raise awareness about climate change, biodiversity loss, and desertification. Their enthusiasm inspired us to join a Climate Fresk session – and we soon discovered why these workshops were receiving so much attention. Within three hours, we were hooked. The workshop was fun, engaging, and incredibly effective at breaking down the complexity of climate change into a clear, structured framework that’s easy to understand.

As raising awareness of our global, interconnected challenges feels more critical than ever, we began exploring collaborative workshops designed to offer participants fresh insights and a broader perspective on the state of our planet – and the actions we can take to protect it. We participated in a wide variety of them: some introduced key concepts like the circular economy or Planetary Boundaries, others highlighted challenges and opportunities within industries like fashion or agri-food, many focused on building a systemic understanding of the causes and consequences of environmental degradation, and a few explored pathways towards sustainable and desirable futures.

Participating in these workshops inspired us to start facilitating ourselves. From public events to universities, corporate settings, and conferences, we’ve now facilitated dozens of engaging sessions exploring the interconnectedness of social and ecological issues, raising planetary awareness, fostering systems thinking, and inspiring meaningful action on today’s global challenges.

Explore workshops on climate science and the Planetary Boundaries

Using tools like the Climate Fresk and Planetary Boundaries Fresco, we’ve guided countless participants toward a deeper understanding of the bigger picture – inspiring meaningful action to protect our shared home.

The Climate Fresk is an interactive workshop that helps participants understand the causes and consequences of climate change. Based on the latest findings from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), it transforms complex science into a clear and engaging format. Participants connect the dots, build climate literacy, and feel empowered to take action. This workshop sparks collaboration, meaningful conversations, and practical solutions.

The Planetary Boundaries Fresco zooms out to offer a broader perspective on the state of our planet. Rooted in the groundbreaking work of the Stockholm Resilience Centre (SRC) and the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK), this workshop explores the nine planetary boundaries that define a safe operating space for humanity. Through collaborative exercises and guided discussions, participants gain insights into humanity’s impact on Earth’s systems and discover pathways toward a sustainable future.
