It was only four years ago that we started this “weird” hobby of reading scientific papers and reports together. While Joy cooked us dinner, I (Elise) would read a study aloud on one of our latest interests—we would sometimes even discuss the supplements or data during dinner. The more we read, the more we realised that:
📚 You don’t know what you don’t know (and there’s a lot we don’t know).
🧠 There is a big difference between knowing and understanding.
🎓 It is incredibly satisfying (and addictive) to keep learning!
Since then, we have crash-coursed on topics like climate change, nature degradation, social inequities, and the strong connections between them. Over time, this has deepened our understanding of how human activities effectively destabilise Earth’s systems, pushing them closer to a state incapable of supporting human societies as we know them. The ongoing degradation of our dear planet will lead to unnecessary suffering—unnecessary because we’ve also learned that the changes needed could make life better for everyone!
Recognising that people are often reluctant to change, we decided to work together to create the conditions that enable positive societal transformation. By combining our backgrounds in media psychology and physics, newfound knowledge, and passion for science communication, we aim to bring research from the studies and reports we love to read into the hands of people and organisations who can put it to practical use.
Along the way, we have picked up tools like the Climate Fresk and the Planetary Boundaries Fresco that effectively help us raise awareness of the global interconnected challenges humanity faces, provide insights and a broad perspective on the state of the planet we call home and discuss the actions we can take to protect it. These workshops, whether in-person or online, in-company or for the general public, have been a big success so far. If you are ready to kick-start (or accelerate) your journey with some climate literacy and improved systems thinking, we invite you to join one of our collaborative sessions. We love to facilitate, and we would love for you to join us!
