On the last day of the UN Climate Change Conference COP28, we were introduced to the Climate Fresk workshop by Ash Goddard and Pierre Benreguig – an interactive workshop in which participants learn the causes and consequences of climate change and better understand what their role could be in handling the crises we face.
The workshop is based on the UN’s IPCC reports, which are the most extensive meta-analyses that evaluate the latest science related to climate change. Rather than reading a lengthy report of thousands of pages, participants learn through gamification, gaining an understanding of the complexity of climate change and its impacts on human systems in a mere three hours.
During the workshop, hope comes from the sense of community – we can and will get out of this state of emergency if citizens, businesses, and governments work together. The workshop promotes active citizenship, responsible business practices and adequate government policies. Participants discuss potential measures for both mitigating and adapting, as well as the obstacles that need to be overcome for successful implementation.
We love this new way of sharing knowledge and building community! In the past month, we have facilitated Climate Fresk to five completely different audiences: One for professors and postgraduates at Delft University of Technology and another for students via GreenTU | Green TU Delft. Additionally, we facilitated 58 teens split over two sessions at a high school as part of their Climate Week (Niftarlake College) and another with predominantly expats at the local student centre (Rapenburg100). Finally, we facilitated our first online workshop with people from Australia, New Zealand, the USA, Canada, Italy, and France.
Would you like to join the 1.5 million participants in 157 different countries in 45+ languages that have already participated in the Climate Fresk? We offer workshops for the general public and will bring them to climate conferences, community events, programmes, universities, and organisations in both English and Dutch. We are currently based in The Netherlands. Please feel free to send us a message!
