Making your own muesli mix

About a year ago, we started making our own muesli mix because brands usually ask an arm and a leg for a pack with poor contents and often add honey to their recipes (something we don’t eat 🐝🌱✌). We ended up buying most of our contents in bulk, saving us at least 50% of the price and a ton of plastic waste – #winning.

For our muesli mix, we usually toast 3 cups of oats, 1/3 cup coconut flakes, 1/3 cup pumpkin seeds, 1/3 cup chia seed, 1/3 cup crushed pecan nuts, and 1/3 cup quinoa in the oven at 180degC for 25 minutes. Afterwards, we add some sultanas, cranberries (apple spiced), 2 tbs ground cinnamon, dates, hemp seeds, and flax seeds, and shake well.

We eat this almost every morning with soy yoghurt and a variety of seasonal fruits – we usually share three pieces of fruit and some berries.
